Brand Chef

A chef is a person who cooks professionally for other people. Usually it refers to chief cook, especially in a restaurant or hotel, responsible for menu planning, ordering foodstuffs, overseeing food preparation, and supervising the kitchen staff.

The word “chef” is taken up from the term chef de cuisine, the head or director of kitchen. In English, the title “chef” in the culinary profession originated in the haute cuisine of the 19th century. These days it is often used to refer to any expert cook, regardless of rank, though in most classically defined kitchens, it refers to the head chef.
